Description
Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS) China Lake is a military airport serving the USN China Lake weapons and armaments research, development, acquisition, testing and evaluation (RDAT&E) faciltiies and ranges. Ir is located in the Western Mojave Desert region of California, just to the north of the town of Ridgecrest.
Climatology
Desert climate (Köppen climate classification Bwh), with only a few inches of precipitation year-round. Summers are very hot with temperatures frequently exceeding 110 °F (43 °C) in July and August and heat waves involving temperatures above 120 °F (49 °C) are not uncommon. Winters are mild with daytime high temperatures typically between 65–75 °F (18–24 °C) degrees in January and February.
