Randolph Air Force Base is a United States Air Force installation located 24 km east-northeast of the central business district of San Antonio, Texas. It is part of Joint Base San Antonio, an amalgamation of the United States Army Fort Sam Houston, the United States Air Force Randolph Air Force Base and Lackland Air Force Base, which were merged on 1 October 2010
Climatology
Transition between humid “subtropical” climate (Köppen climate classification Cfa) and hot semi-arid climate (Köppen climate classification BSh) - characterized by hot, humid summers and cool winters. Significant amounts of precipitation occur in all seasons in most areas. Winter rainfall (and sometimes snowfall) is associated with large storms that the westerlies steer from west to east. Most summer rainfall occurs during thunderstorms and occasional tropical storms (hurricanes).
