Major International airport 20 km North of Rio. The airport is located on an island in the Baia de Guanabara and has in recent times been referred to as Antonio Carlos Jobim Airport.

Climatology

Rio has a Tropical Savanna climate (Köppen climate classification Aw). The temperature occasionally reaches over 40°C in February and maximum daytime temperatures often rise above 30°C all year round. Between December and March there is often very heavy rainfall. The winter months, June to August, are milder with cooler night time temperatures and less rain.
