Regulation 2020/1177 amending Regulation 2020/469 by postponing dates due to COVID-19
COMMISSION IMPLEMENTING REGULATION (EU) 2020/1177 of 7 August 2020 amending Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/469 as regards postponing dates of application of certain measures in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic - text published in the Official Journal of the European Union
Objective
To provide more time for the stateholders to implement Regulation 2020/469.
Summary
Acknowledging the impact of COVID-19 and the measures introduced to contain the pandemic it was decided to postpone the application of certain provisions of Regulation 2020/469. In order to provide an immediate relief for national authorities and all stakeholders and allow them to adapt their planning, this Regulation entered into force on the day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
The general applicability date of Regulation 2020/469 remains 27 January 2022.
The application of the following provisions is postponed from 5 November 2020 to 12 August 2021:
- The requirement for flight crews to report to the air traffic controller when the runway braking action is not as good as expected
- The new SNOWTAM format
- The METAR template
The applicability date of the amendments to Annex V "Specific Requirements for Providers of Meteorological Services" to Regulation 2017/373 remains 5 November 2020 with the exception of the METAR template (as stated above).
Entry into Force
The Regulation entered into force in August 2020.
