Background

The purpose of this project is to conduct research into:

  • Correcting and eliminating the underlying reasons/causes for procedural noncompliance.
  • Fight crew overload.
  • Preventing plan continuation errors.
  • Developing an effective tactical decision making model for flight crews.
  • Developing human performance models.

This Safety Enhancement has been superseded by the actions from the Airplane State Awareness (ASA) Joint Safety Teams (see SE's 192-211) and by the criteria developed by the Performance-Based Operations Aviation Rulemaking Committee (PARC)-CAST Flight Deck Automation Working Group (FDAWG) and the Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee (ARAC) Human Factors Harmonization Working Group (HFWG).
