Description
The Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (STSB) is an extra-parliamentary commission that investigates incidents in aviation, public transportation and high seas navigation in accordance with the country's Ordinance on the Safety Investigation of Transportation Incidents.
The STSB's webpage states that the investigations' only goal is to increase safety in transportation, i.e. to prevent similar incidents in the future.
History
The STSB formerly was known as the Swiss Accident Investigation Board (SAIB), but was renamed one 1 Feb. 2015 as part of a law reform. In Nov. 2011, the SAIB was created from the merger of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and the Investigation Bureau for Railway, Funicular and Boat Accidents,.
