Description

Transport Canada is the Canadian government ministry responsible for transportation policies and programs. Its mission is to serve the public interest through the promotion of safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible transportation.

Transport Canada is led by the minister of transport. The current minister is Marc Garneau, who has served as a member of Canada’s Parliament since 2008.

Areas and industries covered by Transport Canada include aviation (traditional and unmanned or remotely piloted), rail, marine and road transportation, dangerous goods and transportation security.

In the aviation sector, Transport Canada is responsible for aircraft registration, drone safety, fight crew licensing, civil aviation medicine, enforcement, and occupation health and safety, among others.
