David Moriarty
Captain David Moriarty initially trained as a doctor with an academic degree in neuroscience before leaving neurosurgical training to pursue a career as an airline pilot. After being awarded a Royal Aeronautical Society Centennial Scholarship, he completed a master’s degree in Human Factors and Safety with a specialist interest in Resilience Engineering and system safety. In commercial aviation he has worked as a Line Training Captain and Chief Crew Resource Management Instructor for CityJet. He is chairman of the Royal Aeronautical Society Standing Group for Human Factors in Flight Operations & Training and is the author of Practical Human Factors for Pilots, published by Academic Press.
