Jo Gillespie
Jo is a pilot by profession with 30 years of experience and more than 12,000 flight hours in military, business, general and commercial airline flying. He also enjoyed a parallel airline career in aviation safety and risk management, culminating in the role of VP-Flight Safety for Emirates. There he headed a diverse team of safety specialists managing safety reporting, flight data analysis, investigations and operational safety enhancements. At the same time, he was a co-founder and chairman of the Gulf Flight Safety Committee and a member of the international advisory committee of the Flight Safety Foundation. Since leaving Emirates in 2010, Jo has worked as a consultant, adviser and instructor in safety, risk management, investigation, organisational culture and human performance, supporting the work of air operators, insurers, aviation legal practices and most recently health care providers. He has appeared in the High Courts of England and other European countries as an expert witness in operations and safety. Jo’s experience in aviation has been recognised by a fellowship of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
