Philip Marien started as an en-route controller in Maastricht UAC over 30 years ago. Ten years later, he started doing incident investigations, which he has now been doing full time for the last 15 years. In addition, he has been involved in the professional association of ATCO in Maastricht and from there, in the international federation IFATCA, where he volunteers as editor and communications coordinator.
Tom is an active airline captain and safety professional with more than twenty years of experience in the field of aviation safety and human factors. He holds a master degree in Aviation Safety Management and has experience in the roles of a Safety Manager, Aviation Auditor and CRM-Facilitator.
Wolfgang is a freelance Q400 Captain TRI/TRE having worked with Air Berlin. He has served the international pilots’ Federation IFALPA on the ATS and AGE committee and was a member of the ICAO Surveillance Panel as a pilot representative. He is member of the Flight Safety Foundation European Advisory Committee.

Captain Andrew Elbert is a Ryanair Regional Flight Operations Manager, Line Training Captain, and Functional Check Pilot (B738). A USAF Academy graduate (1992), he operated KC-135R/RT/T and AWACS (NATO, USAF) from 1993 – 2005. After joining Ryanair in 2005, he contributed to Ryanair’s safe operations as Safety Group Chairman (HHN) and Base Captain (NRN) whilst continuing national service as Colonel, USAF Reserves. Specializing in aerospace management and aviation safety, Capt Elbert has a Masters of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Boško Rafailović is Senior Expert ATM Procedures at skyguide and Editor of ATM Manual Switzerland. He is a former ACC ATCO and a former Head of ATM Procedures Switzerland, and a member of the EUROCONTROL APDSG and SPIN.
A graduate of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering - University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, Catalin Lepadatu worked for the Romanian ANSP (ROMATSA) for 10 years, as an licensed ATCO and then as the Head of the Technical System Development Division. He joined EUROCONTROL in 2001 as an ATM/ATC Expert and has worked for different domains since: data link, fast time simulations, wake turbulence re-categorisation and airspace management. Between 2008-2011, he was the FAA-EUROCONTROL co-chairman of the RECAT project working group.
Frédéric has an ATM safety assessment background and is specialist on wake turbulence matters within EUROCONTROL. He led the development of the safety cases on RECAT-EU and Time-Based Separation solutions for optimised wake separation. He also represents EUROCONTROL at the ICAO Wake Turbulence Working Group (WTWG).
