Mammatus (MAMMA)


Lobes or pouches of cloud which hang down from the base of a cloud. The name comes from the latin mamma which means breast.


Mammatus clouds are normally associated with severe Cumulonimbus (Cb) clouds and are indicative of Wind Shear.
