Definition

3D-SART is a narrowed-down version from SART, covering only 3 dimensions (instead of 10 or 14):

  • Demands on Attentional Resources - a combination of Instability of Situation, Complexity of Situation, and Variability of Situation;
  • Supply of Attentional Resources - a combination of Arousal of Situation, Concentration of Attention, Division of Attention, and Spare Mental Capacity; and
  • Understanding of Situation - a combination of Information Quantity, Information Quality, and Familiarity.

Discussion

The original SART was developed by R.M. Taylor in 1989. Applicable to aircrew.
