Definition

Circadian Rhythms are human biological and behavioural functions which vary during each calendar day. They include sleep, body temperature, alertness levels and both mental and physical performance. These rhythms are governed by a biological clock within the human brain. ‘Circadian lows’ are periods of high fatigue and poor performance which occur when circadian rhythms dictate sleep.
