Pilot Tools
Pilot Tools
Best Practice – Pilot Tools
- Develop resources to assist pilots to avoid airspace infringements such as a simple airspace warning device for the cockpit.
- Develop training materials for pilot recurrent training.
- Endorse and recommend the use of currently available commercial products.
Cost – Developing new products can be an expensive route but endorsement of existing products is very cost effective.
Example
After consultation with GA groups, NATS in the UK has partnered with Airbox to produce the AWARE Airspace Warning Device for pilots. Originally for use in the UK AWARE now has a French and German chart available. This, or other commercially available products that are developed to do the same thing, could be endorsed by other ANSPs and Regulators if they were considered to be beneficial in reducing infringement risk.
